In July of 1993 I started my career in Law Enforcement with the Euless Police Department. I started this journey in the patrol division and worked several years serving as a beat officer and bicycle officer. I had the opportunity in 1998 to work on a narcotics task force and completed 3 years with this unit. I transferred to the Criminal Investigation Unit and worked in the Family Crimes Unit which encompassed crimes against Children, Juveniles, and Sex Crimes. I promoted to Senior Corporal in 2012 and was assigned to the Community Services Division for a few years and had the opportunity to work as a mental health law liaison. This unit also allowed me the time to start a Peer Support Unit. I am married to a Police Officer who is a combat vet, who served in the Army and Air Force. I knew after retirement I wanted to work providing services that support military, first responders, and their family members. I attended UTA in Arlington, and graduated with a Master’s in Social Work in 2013. In 2018 I completed my Police career after serving 25 years. I went to work for a non-profit serving military, first responders, and their family members. This experience allowed me to serve hundreds of clients within this population. In 2021, myself and two other therapists stepped away from the non-profit agency and started a private practice called Forged in Valor. Our hope is to create a place of comfort for the first responder and provide them with a therapist who understands their unique profession.
